Any person who has achieved the age of eighteen but is not yet seventy-one, is a British subject or a Canadian citizen, or proclaims his intention to become a Canadian citizen, and has lived in Alberta for at least one year in the three years preceding to making an application can apply. A veteran who presents a certificate from the Veterans’ Land Act 1942 (Canada) verifying his status as a veteran is eligible to also apply regardless of residency requirements, and he/she is also eligible for financial aid under the same Act.

To bid on vacant land assumes that the property is up for auction. Participating in an auction involves registering for the auction and following the Terms and Conditions for the sale. Not all land for sale that is vacant is registered in an auction, the typical process for aquiring vacant land for sale is through submitting a legally binding Offer to the Purchase to the Seller.
